SPANISH MOSS – Tillandsia usneoides
Live Sample – Air-Purifying Ornamental Strand – 6 oz Jar
Not a moss, not a parasite, and not just Southern charm — Tillandsia usneoides, known as Spanish Moss, is a true air plant, a species of bromeliad that draws all its nutrients from the air and rain. It needs no soil, no pot. Just air, light, and a place to hang.
Each wide-mouth 6 oz glass jar contains a healthy, 23" strand of Spanish Moss — loosely coiled, never crammed. Harvested ethically and in small amounts, this moss is gathered only from overabundant or wind-fallen growth and re-propagated in the wild. Treated gently with organic neem oil to deter mites and fungus, then air-dried to prevent rot.
Historically used for everything from mattress stuffing to Civil War wound dressings, it now serves as both an ornamental and an air-purifying specimen in homes, studios, and field labs.
Display it. Hang it. Study it. Use it as a living connection to Florida’s ancient subtropics.
