Dark Wood Panels
Aswan, Egypt SAND

Collected Along the Western Bank of th Nile

There’s a place upriver, beyond the guidebooks and tour maps, where the Nile snakes past golden hills and the dunes rise like sleeping lions. That’s where this came from — sand so steep and hot it left us breathless, ankles buried, souls ignited.

This 5ml specimen was collected during an off-track wander through the western edge of Aswan. We followed the Nile on foot, dodging no one, hearing only birdsong and market echoes on the wind. After hours in the heat, we found ourselves in a quiet settlement where a local kitchen opened its doors to our hungry bellies. We shared stories, left extra, and took only this: a small, respectful scoop of the desert.

Aswan has stood as a southern sentinel of Egypt since antiquity. It was once known as Swenett — the frontier where pharaohs sent stone south and where Nubian and Egyptian worlds converged. The sandstone quarried here built obelisks and temples; the winds here whisper through the bones of empire.

Each bottle is part of a living record — not just of a place, but of a day: heat, exhaustion, wonder, and hospitality in balance.

Scientific Note:
Aeolian desert sand, mineral-rich and fine, shaped by the Nile's floodplain winds and Sahara’s slow breath.

Collected with humility. Offered with context.
